Vintage FOLK ART QUAIL Carved Wood NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN Cherokee NC, Signed. VINTAGE NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN CARVED QUAIL. Neat vintage 1950s-1960s hand carved folk art wood Quail or similar bird figure measuring 5-1/4 tall. Featuring simple lines and a stylized design, it is signed by the artist on the underside foot, and complete with the rawhide cord and original stock paper label - marked THE CHEROKEE COLLECTION OF ORIGINAL INDIAN CARVINGS - with the artist signature on the back in original Cherokee writing - from the Qualia Reservation, Cherokee, N. Condition is very nice with a few minor scuffs from age and display - figure is very smooth, with incised ring eyes and incised feet on the curved base - made from a single piece of wood. Wish I could tell you the name of the artist, but could find no reference online. A beautiful Native American Indian sculpture - wonderful addition to any collection or display.
