Antique hand carved folk art walking stick or gentleman's cane. This beautiful piece shows two alligators surrounding a frog.

At one time it may have been hand painted or stained, and both alligators and frog show signs of this original coloring. The carving is deeply incised, and stands out prominently from the stick. There are normal marks throughout (slight scuffs, scratches, etc) from normal use, but no losses, breaks or cracks. The stick is sturdy and rigid. The handle is smoothed to the touch, and the foot has a brass ring hammered around it to keep it from splitting. It measures approximately 34.5 tall and weighs about 1 lb. It is a beautiful and rare piece! Wish I had the story on this, but I have no idea how it ended up in Montana.
