Chainsaw Carved Moai Easter Island Head Statue Wood Carving Folk art

  

This sculpture was carved with a chainsaw and other powertools from a scotch pine log in May of 2023. It has been sealed with multiple coats of spar urethane and can be kept indoors or outdoors.

It stands roughly 21.5 inches tall and is roughly 5x6 inches wide/thick. The cut in the back of the sculpture is intentional. It is a relief cut and it's purpose is to help reduce the amount of cracking in the sculpture. Some cracking will still occur over time.

Cracking is just part of the natural aging process of wood and cannot be prevented.
