This antique primitive American folk art carved and painted 3 foot bird sculpture is a unique piece that captures the essence of Americana style art from the 19th century. Handcrafted from wood, this large sculpture depicts a bird with intricate details and vibrant paintings, showcasing the craftsmanship of that era. Although unsigned, its originality and historical significance make it a valuable addition to any collection of primitive antiques. This piece measures 3 feet tall and weighs approximately 25 pounds.
The original paint is worn in some areas. The bird is the size of an eagle- and parts of the tail, feet and wings have an old world eagle feel. The head is more crane like. Possibly it's was carved by someone who was more familiar with cranes or other waterfowl but aiming for an eagle. It's a bit of a mystery and I can not find anything similar online.
Came from the estate of a folk art collector.
