Antique French 1870/1880s Carved Green Man Demon Dragon Bellows Folk Art

  

Beautiful original Antique Folk Art Hand Carved Fireplace Bellows. Has a carved Green Man / Demon on the front surrounded by scrolls and flowers. The top has "Salve" carved in a banner and "Ricordo" carved in a banner above the Green Man. Salve basically means Greetings and Ricordo means memories or remembrance.

On the back is a line carved Green Man. The brass or bronze nozzle is fabulous and is a Dragon figural.

The Green Man is considered a symbol of rebirth or renewal (circle of life Birth, Death, and Rebirth). Some Interpret the Green Man as a symbol in Paganism. The bellows have great proportions. The leather is and there are wear holes as well as the front leather is split but it does blow some air (although only light air pressure).

Slightly blows air, but would need some leather repair replacement to be fully functional. Wood in good condition without breaks or repairs. It is a work of art. Guaranteed antique and over 100 years old. Measures about 21 1/4" long (handle to nozzle) and 10 5/8" wide at extremes.
