Antique 19thC Civil War 10pcs Carved Peach Pit Miniature Basket Folk Trench Art. Today we are delighted to offer for sale a wonderful lot of 10 carved peach pit miniatures. This sweet and precious lot dates to the second half of the 19th cenury, the Civil War era. Fruit pit carving was a form of naive folk art done usually by soldiers between battles. Most often the carved miniatures were sent back home to a sweetheart or loved one.

The lot is beautifully and meticulously crafted out of peach pits and is composed of 10 pieces: 1 large handled basket 1 handles jug 1 small double handle vase with lid 1 mug with figural handle 1 monkey 1 large handles jug pitcher 2 small handled basket 1 medium handled basket 1 basket with top handle Lot presents well and is in very good antique condition, with minor wear and patina commensurate with age. Minor natural flaws are present which are characteristic of the hand-made nature of pieces and type of material.
