This offering is for an antique circa 1910's folk art hand carved wooden cane. The trench art cane was made by someone who served in WWI and was a survivor of the battle at Verdun. The cane features a nicely carved snake winding it's way up the shaft. Near the top are carved acorns and oak leaves. Inter spaced between the snakes coils reads "SOUVENIR DE VERDUN".35.5 in overall length and it was entirely hand carved from one piece of wood with the decorations in very hugh relief. The cane has a beautiful mellow patina with minor surface wear. There are a couple of shrinkage cracks in and near the handle and some minor loss to the surface of the snakes tail. Otherwise the condition is excellent with very minor high point wear.
