Offered is a wonderful small example of an antique Nordic Bentwood Box known as a Tine or s Svepask from either Norway or Sweden. In the traditional form the box is made of bentwood and laced together with roots such as pieces of birch root. The box opens when 2 decorative posts are gently pulled apart.
The cover has a nice hand carved handle. There are scribed decorative designs on the cover and sides. Overall dimensions are 8 1/2" x 4 1/2" x 4 1/2 tall including the handle. It is in very good overall condition.
