Two Primitive Carved Dolls Large & Small Mother & Kid Folk Art. For your consideration is a set of two very early American primitive dolls.
The larger one has more details; hands folded to the body and eyes. The little one is very stylized. Most likely when played with they were dressed up with rag cloths and so, and possibly were representing a mother and a child. Circa late 18th century, found in New England. All original and scarce Americana. The large is 8.5" x 1.75" x 1"; the small is 5" x 1" x 0.75". The small one shows signs of wood fatigue and surface craquelure, plus a natural split to the wood.
