Vintage FOLK ART Saint/Santos Carved Wood ARCHANGEL Gabriel with sword Primitive. Intricately carved and painted statue in Roman style clothing is 16.5" tall (19" tall including sword), 10" wide and 9" deep. Weighs just over 2 lbs.

Solid wood, wings are separately carved and attached; as are the hands - attached at the forearms. His left hand is especially well done with the two first fingers pointing out and the rest curled back.

Sword is separate wood carving and can be removed if desired and is 11 long. Right hand has the fingers wrapped around to create a hole for the sword and also has a crack in the bottom 3 fingers that the Artist repaired. Bottom of base shows tree growth circles in the wood - a crack in the wood which the artist filled in during the carving/painting process. I have owned this item for over 20 years.
