Vintage Folk Art Hand Carved Wooden Box. Bear. Northwoods decor

  

Vintage Folk Art Wooden Box... This seems to be from the 1800s or early 1900s. This is an incredible estate find. I do not know the purpose of this box. The holes through the bears hands are in a straight line pen?

This seems to be a hand carved piece, there is a hinge with four screws that is the only hardware I see. I do not see where any pieces have been glued on. There seems to be two carved pieces, the top, and the bottom. Even the flowers and the birds seem to come off in one piece.

One of the birds head is gone. The Bear's right ear is partly missing. There is a very small straight screw screwed into the right foot binding a difficult to see what the naked eye. Please see pictures for best description. This item is in the category "Antiques\Primitives".
