Vintage Folk Art Amish Wood Sculpture Signed'88 Man in Hat, Movable Head & Arms

  

Nice vintage hand carved wood sculpture done in a folk art style of what looks like an Amish or Quaker man. Stylized features in his face and clothing with the black hat, blue pants, white shirt & suspenders painted on his back.

I cannot correctly make out the artist's signature - E. It's signed on the bottom upper left corner and dated'88. This looks like a faux weather vane or whirligig- the arms and head do twist but the arms cannot go around in a 360 degree circle like a whirligig would. It's well made, there is a condition issue with one of his feet that can come off of the leg peg and it is cracked a bit - please see last photo.

There's also a bit of paint wear on his left hand and some minor aging to the overall paint. It really is an interesting piece, wish I knew more about the artist or it's origin. From toe to toe he measures approximately 20 1/4 long. The entire piece is 11 1/2" tall & the wood base measures 14 1/2" long x 2 3/4 wide.
