LARGE Antique Hand Carved Wood Sculpture Kalinga Warriors Ifugao Hunters Animals

  
Very unique antique hand-crafted wood sculpture. Depicts a group of Filipino Kalinga warrior hunters carrying their kill (a deer) through a forest. The hunters are surrounded by a large assortment of woodland birds and animals.

Honestly there is so much going on with this piece, that I have trouble putting it into words. Antique / Vintage piece - I would estimate it to have been made circa early - mid 1900's that's just my best personal guess though..

I was told that this item was originally acquired in the Philippines, and was created by an Ifugao tribesman artist. I have not been able to locate a signature anywhere on the piece.

It was obviously created by an extremely talented individual. Cosmetic condition is a pictured. It appears to have lost a few pieces since it was originally created, as I see there are a few holes in the branches where there were likely additional animals at one point in time. Also I noticed that one of the hunters is missing a spear. There may be some other small things which I don't see, but overall it is a very impressive piece of artwork.

This is a LARGE Piece. Approximate Overall Dimensions: 25" H x 29" W x 29 D.
