For sale is a neat whirligig figure. The man has some pencil markings in his eyes and mouth. Neat piece of folk art. I believe that the base isn't original but it looks nice. Was probably swapped when the object was moved inside.
I found this at an antique show in Virginia. It was found before that in North Carolina but I don't know where it was made. Looks to date to the 1920s-early 1940s. A hair over 12 and half inches from the man to the fan blades. Each blade is almost 7 and 3/4 inches wide.
Its the widest part of the figure. When the man is standing upright the object is 8 and 1/4 inches tall. No repairs with the possible exception that the bottom board is replaced. It has pretty good oxidation to the top and sides but not the bottom. The figure also weirdly hangs off the back.
So maybe the figure was once mounted somewhere else but the board looks to be the same time period. The bottom shows little to no oxidation though. There are two nails that have some wire near the figures feet but not sure how they fit in with the overall workings. Still displays well even if the base isn't original.
