Antique Vtg Dated 1928 Folk Art Hand Carved Stone Inkwell Inkstand Signed W Real

  
This offering is for an antique early 20th hand carved stone inkwell or inkstand. The inkstand is carved from one piece of stone and it measures app. 9" b 4.5" by 3, it weighs a hefty 7 pounds. The front of the stand has the owners name "HARRY WILSON" carved into the face and the back side has the date "1928". The top of the stand is wonderfully carved with two chopped logs and two tree stumps.

The stumps are lined with copper to allow for use as inkwells and the two logs have notches carved in the tops to serve as pen holders. The underside is signed by the carver W. REAL in large block letters. The top and sides have their original gold painted surface in place with minor wear.

The gold on the back has more wear, probably from contact with a wall or desk. There is some remnants of candle wax on the right hand stump that should be properly cleaned off but that's the only noteworthy flaw.
