The original wooden frame of the kayak was built in the 1930´s. It has been in the Kilime family and later Nuko, until 2005.
The skin around the kayak has been changed a few times over the decades but the frame is still the same, as a proof of earlier generations they were smaller built than present generation. Up until today the kayak has been very well preserved, but as it is a historical item, not a practical one, it needs taking care of as it is expected of museum pieces. Only few items are left of the original East Greenlandic Skin Kayaks in the world. This is one of them. More detailed informations will be given for those who are interested.
