Hand Carved Lion Bookends folk art sculpture Black Forest Style

Offered for sale is a pair of large wood hand carved lion figure bookends attributed to the black forest style carvings of Switzerland. These stunningly gorgeous bookends are in excellent preowned condition: see photos. After close inspection of these bookends I cannot find any significant flaws whatsoever. The only notable flaw that I can determine is the following: one of the bookends appears to have more of a matte finish than the other. Perhaps this one was exposed to the sunlight or some other environmental factor that caused this difference in appearance.

A new finish could easily be applied so that it matches the other bookend. I will leave this up to the buyers discretion to do so or not. Fortunately they are both completely intact as carvings. I cannot find any damage to the actual woodwork on either piece. These are very large heavy carvings.

They measure approximately 9 inches tall by 8 inches deep and 6 inches wide. Each carving weighs approximately 4 lbs.
