WE LIST FRESH-TO-THE-MARKET ITEMS SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK. GORGEOUS FOLK ART CARVING OF A LARGE GOOSE OR DUCK. LATE 19TH / EARLY 20TH CENTURY. About 18" x 15 1/2" x 8 1/2. Beautiful near-life size carving of a standing goose or duck. Colorful folk artist's interpretation of colors and form. Carved textured feathers on the wings and body. Polychrome painted surface in bold primary colors, red, green, black, yellow.

Stands on a natural-form red painted plinth. Red carving on the beak, known as a "bean" or nail. Very heavy wood, appears to be maple or walnut.
