LATE 19TH / EARLY 20TH CENTURY. About 18" x 15 1/2" x 8 1/2. Beautiful near-life size carving of a standing waterfowl, a goose or duck. Colorful folk artist's interpretation of colors and form.

Carved textured feathers on the wings and body. Polychrome painted surface in bold primary colors, red, green, black, yellow.

Stands on a natural-form red painted plinth. Red carving o n the beak, known as a "bean" or nail. Carved from a dense hardwood, probably walnut or maple. Some surface wear and staining, commensurate with age and use.
