Antique Primitive Folk Art Hand Carved Egg Carrier with Spike Design

  

For sale is a unique antique primitive hand carved wooden egg carrier. It is a wonderful piece of folk art, with 80 carved spikes, creating 63 egg spaces.

The spikes are rustically carved with some having worm holes in the wood. The backing is comprised of four solid planks of wood (possibly mahogany) with tongue and groove sides, held together with two cross pieces. The size is 16-3/4 wide, 12-1/2 deep and 3-1/8 high. The spikes are approximately 5/8 diameter. The finish is a dusty patina on the front side.
