Set of 2 Vintage Hand Carved Wood Jester Folk Art Statues (cabinet) Circus Clown

  

Set of 2 Vintage eclectic wooden, hand-carved, hand-painted statues (media cabinets) of Jesters (Circus Clown Carnival Oddity). Overall nice condition with minor chips in paint finish, expected wear-and-tear for age - with 1 kinda funny "flaw", well, 2 flaws.. The heads are on pegs that just insert into a hole in the top of the cabinets.

Well, the heads would occasionally get knocked off. Notice on the left figure the little chip in the paint of the helmet above the right eye AND on the right figure the tassels had broken off and been repaired (hardly noticeable but shown in photo). SO - to prevent further damage I carefully secured the heads to the bodies with wood glue - except I'm an idiot and glued the wrong heads on the wrong sculptures. Yes, they've had head transplants. I don't want to risk damaging them trying break them free from the glue to switch them back.

I never even realized my faux-pa until researching them to resell. In any case, I think it gives them even more charm. I've reflected the flaw in my asking price for the set.

41' tall, 10' wide, 9'deep. Each cabinet as 2 shelves. About the right size for videos or CDs. I bought these in the 90s at a traveling art show - possibly from the artist. They've been flanking my interior foyer door to greet guests for many years.
