27 Wood-Carved WHALE- FISH Nantucket- Carving-Folk Art-Ad-Trade Bait Shop

  

This is a great Large 27 inch long WHALE that has been on display at a local Bait Shop... The Whale Carving is 7 1/2 inches wide and 2 inches thick... The wood that was used is Northern White Cedar with a black finish.. The grain of the wood can be seen through the light paint..

The Whale Carving is in excellent condition with normal signs of age, paint loss and light wear.... It has large sharp thorn teeth, Blow Hole at the top of the head and Blue Glass Whale Eyes which are in excellent condition... The carving is not supported by any hooks because it was displayed on a wood shelf... The carving is one of many carvings competed by CJ Branby a carver from north central Minnesota... The cost of the carving is driven by the high cost of the Northern White Cedar which come from the great state of Maine.
