One of the best internationally-known Mexican artisans, with works exhibited at London´s British Museum, Paris´ Centre Georges Pompidou and the Modern Art Museum in Scotland, among others. In Mexico, his family has recently won the coveted Fomento Cultural Banamex Award. For many years his family has been dedicated to the manufacture of traditional and colorful papier-mâché products such as Judas, masks, skulls, piñatas and alebrijes. Felipe inherited his grandfather's art through his own father. Today, his creations honor the memory of his family while shaping a recognition of their own. An anecdote relates that while seriously sick, his grandfather, Pedro Linares López, had a nightmare, a fantastic hallucination brought to life by his artisan hands. This is the origin of the famous'alebrijes', a collage of animals and fantastic creatures in an extravagant discharge of color. In 1990, he received the Science and Arts National Award in the category of folk arts and traditions. The Linares family has participated in many international exhibitions in the United Kingdom, France and the US. Their creations are highly appreciated by collectors all over the world.
