B eautiful Intricate Deer - by Jose Hernandez. Vintage Oaxacan Alebrije Wood Carving. (son of) Evaristo Hernandez J. The painting on this deer has much more detail than many of Jose Hernandez's other pieces as his works improved as his skills advanced. This piece is a wonderful example of the transition of Oaxacan art from the earlier rustic era pieces to the more intricately painted pieces of today.

An important addition to any collection! 9" Tall (to top of tail - 13-1/4 Tall with antlers) 10" Long (head to toe) and 5 Wide. Ote: The antlers and ears are removable. From the estate of a relative who was an avid art collector. Item has been in storage for 20-30 years in a smoke free environment.

Expect imperfections typical of a hand-made item and a vintage Alebrije wood carving. The worst wear and tear is the scuff in the paint behind the left front shoulder and the bottom of the rear foot - which is why the price is not set higher.
