Up for sale is this very rare hand-carved and painted Post Modernism folk art dog footstool attributed to renowned artist, Stephen Huneck. I believe Made in circa 2000, this footrest / small bench exemplifies Huneck's love of dogs and his humorous, tolerant attitude toward them. Huneck admired dogs and dedicated his life to celebrating them. He built a sanctuary for them, with an art studio, a dog chapel, dog meeting grounds and trails, and a gallery at his Dog Mountain complex in northern Vermont.

He also had several retail shops throughout the United States before his untimely death in 2010. Huneck expressed his philosophy concerning dogs, furniture and art by saying. I believe art should be an integral part of life. I try to give my work an almost magical energy that makes the viewer feel good. This is a very highly sought after work and they do not come up for sale often.

This piece will most certainly not last long in my store! The footrest is in amazing condition, wonderfully stylized and a fine folk art investment. No cracks or chips or losses, just very minor and light surface wear. Comes from a high end Los Angeles estate collection.

Measures 13.8 inches tall to the top of the head and 21 inches long (35.1 cm, 53.3 cm). The footrest platform reaches a height of about 8 inches (20.3 cm). Would make a fantastic display piece, fine addition to a collection, or a great gift!
