Antique Carved Wood Painted Carousel Horse Stander Style Folk Art

  

A wonderful Vintage wooden carved and hand-painted Carousel Merry Go Round horse. I do not know the exact age.

It is known as a "Stander" style with 3 or 4 legs on platform. The horse is made of wood and features gorgeous hand-painted pattern and carved wood that with spectacular detailing. The glass eyes are dark and realistic.

His head is straight and his gorgeous mane is off to one side with wonderful flowing detailing. Manes of old horses are generally carved--usually in soft flowing lines--to specifically face the public. Most new horses are carved with the head and neck in a straight line pointing forward and manes generally fall on both sides of the neck without a specific direction. Minor wear and knicks is expected due to age. This piece will be the perfect addition to any collection or decor.
