Mexican Cross with Christ Antique real hand carved folk art painted Vintage

  
Great survivor probably a home use from a shrine. Wood is solid not light cottonwood so my first guess is Mexican or could be New Mexico. Has plaque in place INRI (Jesus of Nazareth King of the Jews) They always used "I" instead of "J" in writing this. Old metal nails and heavy wire used to hold body to cross. Measures about 19" tall and 12" wide.

What we like : not gory covered in painted blood or something. Just a classic carving one of a kind. Softer look but still expressionistic large hands and face, not European, Phillipines or Spanish.
