Vintage Hand Carved, 21.5, Wood, Rustic Folk Art Sculpture, Rooster-Headed Humanoid of Peruvian (Andean) heritage. 5.5"L x 5.5"W x 21.5H. Dressed in an expressively traditional Andean. A substantial carving with hand painted wood, visible hand tool marks and a strong physical presence. Providence is unknown: is an estate sale find from a well-traveled military officer. Note: the sculpture has one hand open and the other closed and this typically represents a duality of power and peace; it symbolizes a balance between strength / defense (the closed fist) and virtue/respect/generosity (the open hand). The gesture signifies the ability to govern, fight or protect, while also offering peace and spiritual connection. This carving is in very good vintage primitive condition. Crack in back of base, but the sculpture is still fully intact. Faded colors and wear to be expected with a vintage piece of this kind.
