The artwork has remained in our family ever since and has never been reframed, altered, or restored. Measuring approximately 19½ inches high by 10½ inches wide, this impressive decorative panel showcases the extraordinary craftsmanship associated with traditional Thai leather carving.

The intricate openwork is entirely hand cut, creating thousands of individually carved details that allow light to pass beautifully through the leather. The artwork depicts a traditional Chinese four-clawed dragon surrounded by stylized clouds, flames, and the symbolic flaming pearl, executed by a Thai artisan using traditional leather-carving techniques commonly associated with Nang Yai decorative craftsmanship. Construction The panel is crafted from genuine hand-carved leather with extensive pierced openwork and hand-painted detailing in: Rich black Crimson red Emerald green Cobalt blue Metallic gold Every scale, cloud, flame, and decorative element has been individually carved by hand, demonstrating an exceptional level of workmanship.

Original Presentation The leather panel remains attached to its original presentation backing using two small stitches. The backing appears to have been intended as a temporary mounting for transport and display prior to professional framing. The leather artwork has never been removed from its original stitched backing, allowing the next owner to preserve it as found or professionally mat and frame it if desired. The intricate cutwork appears complete with no obvious missing sections or repairs. Colors remain vibrant with excellent visual impact. The original paper presentation backing shows: water staining near the upper portion light age-related discoloration minor waviness Importantly, the staining is confined primarily to the backing paper and does not extend through the leather artwork itself.
