Wonderful and simply beautiful Antique circa 1900 Pennsylvania German wooden carved folk art handpainted birds in nest with an outstanding heavily wooden carved wall hanging plaque The birds are beautiful with patriotic colors throughout the wings, especially the one on the left depicting the American flag. The birds tails are very elaborate and beautifully carved. The birds are painted in a light green color, and both have glass beaded eyes. The back tails are nicely detailed throughout with beautiful colors and a dark, rich patina. The nest is made of Plaster of Paris and handpainted in deep dark brown.

This particular piece dates around the late 1800s or early 1900s. All original paint throughout and well cared for as pictured. Simply stunning example that I highly doubt you will see again.

I have only had a few of these particular pieces where they really stand out among the rest, and this is absolutely one of the finer ones that I have ever seen. The wooden black forest plaque is heavily carved, as mentioned above, with every little detail imaginable. This must've taken a lot of time to carve! As for overall condition: I would consider this piece in excellent condition with no signs of damage repairs and all original untouched paint throughout. The only noticeable thing is that it has a few spots of white latex paint.

I found it was fairly easy to clean off when I saw it on one of the carved branches. The right bird has a spot of white paint on the upper portion of the body. In all honesty, I would simply leave it alone, but it could be fairly easy to remove without disturbing the original paint. These types of things happened as these pieces were hung in areas of workshops and outside areas. Again, it's not a big deal, in my opinion.

This piece was absolutely kept indoors, as you can clearly see from the pictures. The height is nearly 7.75" from the top beaks of the birds and the very bottom of the plaque, and the length from the outer tails measures approximately 8".

Each bird measures approximately 7 in length. ALL ITEMS ARE WRAPPED WITH GREAT CARE??
